About the SPT Program
The Simplifying Passenger Travel (SPT) Program focuses on air travellers and facilitating their journey while emphasising the security benefits of processing 'known' passengers automatically, thereby freeing-up resources to concentrate on 'unknown' passengers.SPT is a joint initiative amongst a number of key parties involved in the passenger’s journey: passengers, airlines, airports, control authorities, and technological suppliers.
Why is SPT Unique?
SPT is different because it focuses on the whole journey, not on the individual elements for which each party is responsible. The value of the program lies in ensuring that progress is spread throughout the interdependent air transport system, and that it does not remain as a series of sub-optimal solutions to local problems. With the Program comes a need to improve the whole environment for co-operation in developing and implementing standards and common practices. In this respect SPT also involves working with governments and others involved, to update the facilitation infrastructure, co-operating to provide practical standards and supporting guidelines.Who Stands to Benefit?
- Passengers: Simple, hassle free travel
- Travel agents: Facilitate pre-travel
- Airlines: Streamlined processing
- Airports: Better use of resources
- Government agencies: Efficient and secure transportation
